When you’ve made a considerable investment in both time and money building your dream home, ensuring it is fully equipped with the latest mod cons and keeping that investment (and your family) safe and secure is on the top of the priority list for most new home owners.
Thanks however to the IOT (internet of things), technological choices can not only seem confusing, but downright overwhelming. That is why engaging a company that specialises in home technology is an intelligent and stress-minimising option and the logical choice for the owners of this stunning riverfront home on the Sunshine Coast, who engaged award-winning Electronic Living to fully automate and secure their new home.
Working in close collaboration with Shaun Lockyer Architects who designed the contemporary pavilion style home, Electronic Living brought their wealth of expertise in home automation to the project, managing all the technological requirements of the home from design and cabling, through to product selection, installation and custom programming. The outcome is a technologically superior home that not only meets the clients’ requests for a high quality system but is also simple and easy to use.
Due to the homes’ minimalist architectural style, aesthetics were of prime importance, requiring careful consideration during the planning stages. Equipment is concealed within a dedicated communications room which allows convenient access for future expandability and also provides a mechanically ventilated thermostat controlled environment helping prolong the life and reliability of the system.
All equipment has been hidden from view within a dedicated communications room which allows convenient access for future expandability and provides a mechanically ventilated thermostat controlled environment helping prolong the life and reliability of the system.
Full home lighting and blind control are accessed through touchscreens and smart light switches – the user can select from a range of customised scenes, for example, the “Home” scene, which turns on the lights on the pathway from the garage to the kitchen and bedroom. Other scenes such as “Goodnight” will progressively turn off all of the lights in the house and close all of the blinds.
“A state of the art security and CCTV system was also installed that can be viewed, monitored and controlled via touch panels throughout the home and is also available on each of the family members smart devices,” adds Damian. “This is of particular benefit for our client as they are often based internationally, so it provides them the ability to monitor their home at all times.” Family members are notified on their smart devices if a security breach was to occur, and the security monitoring company is also immediately advised. An audio and video intercom system also lets the client see who is at their front door and allows access to their visitors from multiple touchscreen devices & mobile devices when both home and away.
This is a great feature for receiving deliveries at home when out and about and it allows the delivery driver to leave parcels securely at the front door via remote access control to the gate. The homeowner can even watch the entire delivery being made via the CCTV camera system.
