On our initial visit to the EuroMarque Ferrari showroom, we couldn’t help but notice a distinct lack of ambience and atmosphere. Although filled with the most prestigious of sports cars the showroom was incredibly quiet and you felt very conspicuous and somewhat intimidated by the vast open space. In desperate need of an AV overhaul it was important that the system did not intrude on the main attraction but very simply compliment the iconic Ferrari brand.

Simplicity and practical functionality were key requirements from the client brief and the design team addressed these needs with the introduction of a Crestron control system. Incorporating a 5.7″ touch screen for both the boardroom and showroom enables both areas to be controlled independently at the same time as a shared entity or independent zones. One of the stand out features of this system is the customised Crestron touch panels which incorporate carbon fibre backgrounds, the unmistakable Ferrari black stallion logo and the roar of a Ferrari engine when various functions are selected from the touch panel displays. These unique features were not revealed until the final handover which evoked a truly unforgettable client experience.

System Design

Product selection held particular relevance with this project, a Meridian F80 music system was incorporated for not only performance but to also signify the recent collaboration between Ferrari and Meridian in both the dual development and production of this collector’s item. Ferrari has a world-leading reputation in the field of materials and composites technology, whilst Meridian’s expertise in digital audio innovation is second to none. This system was strategically placed in a position where the owner configures their new vehicle with custom selections incorporating the use of a motorised wall-mounted Plasma television.

Other notable features of the system are the 50″ plasma and surround sound in the boardroom and the 150″ motorised anamorphic projection screen and prismatic lens in the main showroom. The motive behind providing such a system is to create maximum impact when displaying demonstration footage of the vehicles in action. It is also used for VIP nights and viewing Formula 1 Grand Prix events. This huge image creates a magnificent backdrop to the various Ferrari vehicles displayed on the showroom floor. It also plays a pivotal role in conjunction with the audio system in creating a truly emotive experience for the prospective purchaser.


Due to the project being a retrofit we were faced with the common issues of providing an adequate cabling infrastructure to facilitate the equipment specified. This generally requires a significant increase in labour and materials compared to providing the same solution at a construction stage. We were also faced with an incredibly short time frame to complete the project due to the impending release and official Australian launch of the new Ferrari California. The head of international sales and other various corporate VIP’s from Ferrari Italy would be visiting the showroom for the launch and the owner wanted the showroom to be at it’s best for their arrival. With any retrofit project generally work is performed in stages in sequence of pre wire, trim, programming and calibration however due to the limited time frame all facets were merged. It was not uncommon to have up to nine of our staff working on the project at any given time. This possessed a challenge in itself as we also had to perform our work in and around approximately 8 million dollars worth of luxury motor vehicles. In addition all work was performed during normal trading hours so our team also had to demonstrate diligence and respect to the working environment whilst maintaining a frenetic pace to complete the project on time and budget. No mean feat!


The foundation for the initial design was to enhance the ambience of the showroom whilst complimenting the Ferrari brand. Not only were both these requirements executed with premium product selection and a highly skilled team, the entire system is effortless to use for all staff thanks to the customised Crestron touch screens. The project was also completed on time and budget as promised with no interruption to regular trade. The finished product has resulted in our company forging a continued business relationship with Ferrari.
